Ingredients:
For this recipe, we will use a whole chicken.
- 1 whole chicken – choose a size that fits in your cooking basket
- Vegetable oil – we used olive oil
- Preferred herbs – sage, rosemary, thyme
- Salt
- Spices (optional) – paprika, chilli, garlic powder
Instructions:
Coat the chicken with oil using a brush.
Mix all the seasoning together and sprinkle it all over the chicken, front and back. Stuff some herbs inside as well.
Place the chicken in the cooking basket with the breast facing down and cook it for 45 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
After the 45-minute mark, turn the chicken over with the breast side.
Leave it to cook for another 15 minutes.
Check the chicken regularly, to see if it’s cooked all the way through.
To do this, pierce the chicken with a knife in a thicker part, and if the juice runs clear then it’s cooked.
You can also use a meat thermometer. If the temperature reaches 165 degrees somewhere close to the bone then it’s cooked.
Serve
You can serve air fryer chicken with many side dishes that you can also cook in the air fryer. Potatoes, cabbage and other such side dishes work nicely with the main dish of chicken.
How long to cook chicken in the air fryer?
Cook your whole chicken for around 45 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
Leave the chicken to cook for another 15 minutes with the chicken breast side up.
Is it safe to put aw chicken meat in an air fryer?
Don’t worry about putting a raw chicken in an air fryer, because it’s perfectly safe. The cooking basket can be washed and once you cook any raw meat it makes it safe.
