Cabbage is one of the most popular side dishes to accompany a full meal, and making air fryer cabbage will prove quite easy. It is such a very easy side dish to make, especially with using an air fryer.
Apart from the more popular Brussels sprouts, which are basically mini cabbages, a whole cabbage is harder to cook. Thus using an air fryer will help cook this cabbage quicker and obtain a nice texture.
Ingredients:
- A head of cabbage (green or red)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: garlic powder, paprika, dill (dried or fresh)
Instructions:
Remove the cabbage core, and start slicing the rest of the cabbage into thick slices.
Sprinkle olive oil on it and all the spices on top. Mix well and ready the basket in the air fryer.
Set the air fryer at 190 degrees C for about 8 to 12 minutes. Check the cabbage halfway through, and give it a stir. Let it cook until the end.
Additional considerations:
Some prefer to cook cabbage with a little more bite to it by adding vinegar or lemon juice.
White cabbage is also mixed with tomatoes to add a little extra flavour and colour to the cabbage.
Different sizes or types of cabbage will have varying cooking times. Savoy cabbage will be easier to cook so make sure to check regularly. Cooking time will also depend on the size of the air fryer basket.
Some versions of this meal can be made with preferred meat as a main dish such as chicken thighs or pork joint.
Brussels sprouts pair well with dishes like turkey crown but a regular cabbage is also quite tasty.
Final considerations
Air fryer cabbage is an easy quick meal to make and can accompany a meat-based dish quite well. Either with paprika or other preferred spices, air fryer cabbage can be adapted for many tastes.
