Turkey crown is a great meal to put on the Christmas table especially if you plan to cook it in an air fryer and get a nice juicy result.
You will need an air fryer for this and one of the most popular ones is from Ninja, and it can be used for other purposes, like drying fruits or as a pressure cooker.
Ingredients for turkey crown:
- Turkey crown of 1.5 kg
- Vegetable oil – I usually prefer olive oil, but any oil will do so choose your favorite
- Seasoning – this can be herbs like sage, thyme, rosemary, garlic, salt, or even orange wedges for a citrus punch
Air fryer cooking instructions for turkey crown:
Dry the turkey crown with a paper towel. Spread some oil on the skin side of the crown, and add all the seasoning now or after you’ve placed it in the air fryer.
Put the crown skin down in the air fryer, preheated at 180C or 360F, and cook for 30 minutes.
Flip it and cook for another 20 minutes. This will make all the juices become clear and thicken.
The turkey crown is ready when the internal temperature is 75C or 165F.
Once it’s ready leave the turkey crown to rest for about 20 minutes before carving it.
Tips
If you have a bigger turkey crown you will need to cook it for longer in the air fryer.
Don’t skip on drying the turkey crown as it will help obtain a crispy texture.
Check the cooking process regularly and if you see it becoming crispy too fast cover it with some foil.
Not all air fryers are the same so regularly checking the turkey crown will indicate how it’s going, and you might need to leave it in more or less.
Serve with Brussels sprouts, potatoes, or stir-fry vegetables.
