- 320 g pasta of your choice (spaghetti, penne, or fusilli)
- extra virgin olive oil to taste
- chopped onion
- 150 g drained tuna
- 400 g peeled tomatoes
- basil to taste
- black pepper to taste
- salt to taste
Instructions – how to make tuna pasta
Start by heating a pot full of water over the heat, add salt to the boil as desired. Drain the tuna fillet. In the meantime, clean the onion, slice it thinly. Heat the olive oil in a pan and add the sliced onion. Let it dry on low heat for a few minutes, stirring often; fray the tuna with a fork and add it to the pan when the onion has softened and let it brown for a couple of minutes, stirring constantly.
Now, mash the peeled tomatoes with a fork and pour them into the pan with the tuna; let the sauce cook for about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, boil the spaghetti; during the cooking time of the pasta, the sauce will also be ready. Drain the spaghetti and place them in the pan with the tuna. Season with ground pepper, turn off the heat and season with fresh basil leaves.
Mix and serve your hot tuna spaghetti.
Tips
This recipe can also be made without the tomatoes, simply saute the onion with tuna, season with fresh parsley and mix with the pasta.
You can use fresh basil chopped and added to the sauce sooner so that the herb softens and releases its flavor.
Serve with grated parmesan for an extra punch of taste.
