February 14th has become synonymous with love. Valentine’s day as a celebration of love has spread around the world and while many uphold certain aspects of the holiday, like gifting chocolate and flowers, others observe another kind of holiday in the name of love with native traditions.
We often say that we are living in a man’s world. Unequal pay, more men in politics or as judges, and very few women presidents or prime ministers. The stack against women is obvious, patriarchy is the norm, male lineage had been in force for millennia and the sidelines have always been populated by women.
Every year for the last four years has been marred by many frustrations that lead to the proclamation of the worst year. Either due to the number of celebrities that have died, the election of certain officials that are controversial, or any other reason for claiming “the worst year”. But then 2020 happened.
Children like to play and toys are often used. Throughout history, toys were used in accordance with the cultural and contextual aspects of life. They were, and still are, tools that help children interact with the world and learn to live in society as they grow up.
Every living creature has to confront the most natural and dreaded part of its existence, death. Animals do not have the same capacity as humans to dwell on this topic, thus humans stand out in this regard, so much so that at times it may consume our entire being.
