Cheese puff pastry sticks – quick recipe

The cheese puff pastry sticks are delicate and delicious savory puff pastry snacks topped with Parmigiano Reggiano, great as an appetizer.

Prep: 20 minutes

Difficulty level: very easy

Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry roll
  • 3 g white poppy seeds
  • 3 g black poppy seeds
  • 50 g grated grana padana
  • 1 egg
  • paprika to taste
  • salt up to taste
  • 1 tbsp whole milk

Instructions

To prepare the cheese puff pastry sticks, unroll the puff pastry on a work surface and roll it out lightly with a rolling pin (if the puff pastry has a round shape, make a square with a smooth blade cutter wheel). In a small bowl, shell the egg and beat it with a pinch of salt, add a tablespoon of milk and emulsify.

Spread the mixture with a kitchen brush on the surface of the puff pastry. Then sprinkle with Parmesan. At this point, ideally divide the square of puff pastry into three equal rectangles: on the first one evenly distribute the black poppy seeds, sprinkle the second rectangle with white poppy seeds, and the third with paprika. Using a smooth blade washer, make strips about 2 cm thick vertically, then finish with the strips seasoned with paprika.

Arrange all the strips on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated static oven at 200 ° for about 8 minutes. When they are golden brown, take them out and let the cheese puff sticks cool before bringing them to the table!

Tip

As an alternative to paprika and poppy seeds, you can sprinkle your cheese sticks with rosemary, cumin, cinnamon, anise, flavored salt, pepper. And if your cheese sticks are leftover, don’t worry, the next day they will be even better!

Sesame seeds are another great topping to add to your cheese puff pastry sticks.
